Another Day, Another Upgrade Redux
Mood: Busy
Site Version: 3.12
Well this update was certainly quicker than the last one, huh? I've been going through the to-do list, trying to knock off important little features before starting on a larger, new project. Most of the changes here are minor bug fixes or UI tweaks (though the blog tag searching is pretty nice), but there is one major new feature that I can foresee a certain crowd perhaps not being too happy with. The number of ratings (positive or negative) you can make is now limited on a daily basis. For now, you can rate ten times your level pieces of content per day (the count resets overnight), or five if you have not yet achieved level 1. These numbers are not set in stone, and may be increased, decreased, or made into a per-site option as the admins see fit. You can find the rest of the details below.
Also, note that if you didn't see the update notes yesterday for version 3.11, they can be found
here.

• Added a user preference to opt-out of statistical rankings. Your scores will still be calculated, but you will not be listed on the leaderboards, your statistical ranks will not appear on your profile, and you will not be eligible for rank-dependent rewards. Note that changes to this preference will take effect on the following day.
• Fixed a bug where the Access Level option would show the wrong value when editing an existing forum.
• User names in happy birthday messages are now links to that user's profile.
• Removed "quote submitted by" tooltip for site-generated quotes (such as birthday messages).
• Blog tags are now links to searches for that tag by blogs written by the same author.
• The user who invited another user, as well as the site users were created from, are now recorded.
• Clicking the "# new ___ comments" link on the sidebar now brings up a list of only entries with those new comments, as per your user preferences.
• Filters when viewing non-forum content (e.g., blogs or reviews) have been added for "content with new comments" and "content with new comments on your content" (your posts or comments).
• There is now a chance for the quote to welcome new users, a la the happy birthday quote.
